How Goodspring operates
- Vendor-neutral by design. No tools sold, no referral fees, no implementation arm waiting.
- The diagnostic doesn't sell the fix. The readout is the product. There is no proposal on the last page, and it never routes you to Keel. Keel is the one thing Goodspring sells that fixes: a product with a flat price, for product data only, bought where it is listed and never proposed at the end of a readout.
- One price agreed before the work starts, fixed scope, stated in public. You shouldn't need a call to learn what something costs; the call is where it is set to your store.
- Nothing renews by default. Engagements end. Continued work happens only when a need justifies it — never because a contract does.
- A human in the loop. Measurement is judgment, not just tooling.
- Neutral to dependency. Great design is a plan that, in spirit, is neutral to dependency — good work leaves you needing us less, not more.
Stated values are cheap, so this site is built to be checked rather than believed: the prices are on the pages, the engagements end on delivery, every figure ships with its arithmetic, and even the crawler identifies itself and publishes its own rules.
The name and the mark
The mark was drawn in 2007, the name coined in 2018. The thesis came earliest: a 2005 artwork — a figure on a hill, watching a migration pass below — that turned out to be the whole posture of the practice. The independent observer. Watching carefully, from the outside, without a stake in what the watching shows.
Two names carry the work. The practice's instrument signs its results as Goodspring Plumb; the product-data app is Goodspring Keel. Goodspring is the house they share.
The human
Goodspring is Travis Austin.
Two decades across enterprise design, product, and engineering at Deere & Company, Sears, and Microsoft, including ecommerce measurement at Fortune 100 retail scale — and the discipline that comes with it: making sure the numbers can be trusted before anyone acts on them.
Goodspring is new. I'd rather say so plainly than imply a client list that doesn't exist yet. You work with me directly: there's no team to be handed to, and the person on the call is the person who does the work.
We run our own Shopify store. Not a demo; a real one, with real orders, and the store Keel is tested on first. It is how we keep learning the merchant seat: same platform, same dashboards, same disagreeing numbers.
